A little tag and a long goodbye!

Hello everyone

Here it is my last Scottie DT post, very sad indeed but as they say the show must go on, so with slight teary eyes here is what I made this week.

As soon as I saw this Paper from the new Kaisercraft Telegraph road collection I knew I had to make some kind of vintage dress form with it, and as I have never made a tag before I thought I would give it a go!

To make this dress form I cut out a piece of chipboard using the Tim Holtz sewing room die, ran it through the spellbinders Bricks and Bark embossing folder (love this) and gave it a touch of distress ink to really bring out the ridges.

Then I cut a rectangle of the designer paper, sprayed with a little water to make it pliable and starting from the middle pleated in some ruffles for my skirt.

the bodice was cut with the same die and I just trimmed a little v for the bottom and trimmed off some of the paper around the sleeve area.

I then adhered a little lace on the bottom edge of the skirt and stuck it all together with some hot glue. Wallah!

To finish up this tag I added some of the designer paper, prima pearls, some of the Telegraph road collectables and also some seam binding which I altered with Victorian Velvet and Aged Mahogany Distress inks and stains, and then I just added some faux stiching with a gel pen.

And that's it,This little tag couldn't be simpler and took nearly no time to put together (great for me this week with a sick buba) and there was so much variation and inspiration that came to me while making that im sure there will be many more tags in my future.

Telegraph Road - Pocket Scrapbook layout

Happy Friday everyone!

This week I have another Pocket scrapbooking layout for you using the Kaisercraft Telegraph road papers.

The tittle below was cut from chipboard using the Tim Holtz vintage market die (the smaller one) And my little girl (with daddy's supervision) helped cover them in glue and sand which we collected on the day and brought home in a jar!
Then once all was dry I went around the edges with Distress Ink to make them pop a little more

Here you can see a few of the collectables from the collection, I like to keep my layouts really simple so when I add my journaling it doesn't get lost under too many embellishments and I find the collectables allow me to add a bit of interest without spending too much time or loosing focus of what this project is really about,Story telling and memory keeping!

The Seahorse is a stencil that I had in my stash, and I just added some perfect pearl powder to my modeling paste to get a blue tint, and I did the same with the shell on the opposite side

And a closer look at the Kaisercraft wooden flourishes that match the paper line really well, All I have done to this one is ink the edges with Distress ink and stamped and embossed some "postcard" wording for added interest.

The last thing I did to this layout was ink all of the edges with Gathered Twigs distress ink, this gave a really soft and vintage feel to the layout and helped the journaling cards and photos blend together better.

And that's me for another week, I hope you all have a fabulous crafty weekend

Telegraph Road Altered Clock

Hello again everyone,

This week I had the great pleasure of playing with the new Kaisercraft Telegraph road papers.
This paper line is really beautiful and versatile filled with vintage images and both soft and bold prints - and I just love it!

So without further ado here is what I came up with this week.

Here is a little before of the clock I found on special for under $5 and I knew that I could work a bit of magic with it. (so don't tell my husband but I actually picked up 4 of these beauties)

Anyway back to the after........ This gorgeous bird is from the collectables and is sitting on a little nest that I made out of burlap and raffia, the small browney roses are more of the fimo ones I made/burned and the wooden heart piece in the background is also from Kaisercraft called fancy hearts.

The large blue flower below is a leftover from my altered canvas and is made with the Tim Holtz Tattered pinecone die and coredinations paper, and the rest are a mix of Prima and I am Roses

Ive adhered the "wood" paper (backside of Memo) to the clock using modpodge and also used this as a sealer using a foam brush (which gave it a cool woodish texture too) This is also edged with Weathered wood Distress ink which im convinced was made for this paper:)
To color the seam binding I used Wendys trick of distress ink and water untill it matched the paper line.

Here is the other side view, I have punched out some more of the paper line using a Martha Stewart punch and inked sides and back with Bundled Sage Distress ink.

And a top View

To top it all of I mixed some perfect pearls with water and gave everything a brush with Gesso and Pearl glimmer!

And thats me for this week, let me know what you think!
xx Kristy

True love

Hello all,

This week I have been playing with the Stacy Cling stamps and my Distress inks to make my own "designer paper" and this little Card/Photo frame was the result.

The Stamp I used was the corner stamp from poppies, and I just stamped twice (once upside down) so I got a full image.
Just a tip if you are going to colour your images, make sure you use a permanent ink like Stazon which wont run when you add water to your distress inks!

Here is another handmade flower nestled into some Prima silk flowers (which are really bendable and great to use) the center is some bling that I scored in Bev's Bargins so go take a look as she always has some great stuff.

And here it is all closed up.

The frame piece is from My Minds Eye and I have added some dimensional tape on the back so you can slip a photo into it before giving away.

I must say that the colouring did take quite a while on this one, but it was a very relaxing process.
so make a cuppa and give it a go, and you can make your own papers in any colour you like.

Have a great weekend everyone.

xx Kristy

Flower Layout

Hi Everyone!

Here's a sneek peek at what I have been doing this week, can you guess what it was????

Well if you cant guess, I have been playing with the Sizzix Tattered Flower Garland die and the McGill Paper blossom kit.(on the left)
This is a fantastic tool set which makes manipulating the die pieces so easy, it comes with a good variety of sizes and also some awesome tweezers that really help to avoid hot glue burns! yay!

Here is a shot of some of the blooms that I made using the tools, and with the exception of the three white flowers on the right all of these flowers were made with the one sizzix die, talk about versatile!

So what did I do with all of these blooms you ask??? well I made a layout using my leftover Prima Optimist paper Bling, and a few things from my stash.

I was going to do a step by step but here is the first photo........

And here is the second....opps, I think I got a little carried away.

Anyway here are a few close ups for you.

The best thing I love about this layout was that I made every flower on the page except the red ones.

So I hope you give the die and tools go, I have linked them for you below so go take a look at Scotties website and get creative.

Have a great week
